Ways To Be a Blogger That People Will Love To Follow

Hi welcome to my blog.

Someone drop this comment on a blog i was reading

"I tend to compare bloggers to the columnists writing for the newspapers. The hard facts are published on the front page but the opinions and background to the facts are normally handled by the columnists. That is what I expect from reading an article on a blog. I want to know that bloggers opinion on whatever the topic might be. I expect a blogger to offer me something different. Be witty, be serious, make me laugh, make me cry, just be different."

This kept me thinking that there is a way you blog and people will love to follw you just because you are offering a unique content and more real. And so i have research this few facts and tips on

Ways To Be a Blogger That People Will Love To Follow

Be yourself.
There's no much point to proof by trying to be someone you're not. It is realy good and infact it pays more by being genuine.

Be unique.
This goes hand in hand with #1 - nobody is exactly like you. But when you blog, you don't have as many ways to show your personality. You don't have hand gestures, facial expressions, or the tone of your voice on your blog page for people to see. All you have and or need to find is your writing style, as this gives you a unique voice.

Be focused.
What are you going to write about? Aim for a specific niche - you need to give potential readers an idea of what your blog is about, and be focus on that area at a time.

Be honest.

Don't write what you don't agree with - it'll be a lot harder to defend your post if people disagree with it. If you're not sure you've got your facts straight, do some more research before you post. If you make a mistake, correct it and apologise - don't try to bury it. (Bonus tip: Always ensure to be responsible for your actions. What you write is on your shoulders - take responsibility for the things you say and do.) This is where lots of people fail in life.

Be interesting.
Have an opinion - don't just report things. And don't worry about people disagreeing with you! Its normal not everyone will agree with you.
Here's a quote from Winston Churchill that is worth remembering:

"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life"

Be approachable.
Encourage people to comment on your blog. Comment on their blogs, too. Be friendly and civil, even if you disagree - common courtesy goes a long way.

Be responsive.
If someone asks a question, answer it. You don't have to reply within 5 minutes, but in most cases you should aim to reply within a few days. For lengthier queries, you could send a quick note to say you'll reply as soon as you can.

Be proactive.
Don't wait for other people to post things that you use as the basis for your own posts. It can be good to write a follow-up, but not all the time. Go in a new direction - approach your niche from a new angle. Seek opportunities. Make more research about the niche or area you blog about. Find guest writers. Meet new people on blogs, forums and other networking sites.

Be available.
We can't be online every moment of the day, but we can check our emails regularly. Maintaining an online presence is important - so don't stop posting on your blog, and don't stop using networking sites such as Twitter. Ensure there's a steady flow of activity - you don't have to post for the sake of it, just don't let people forget who you are (but don't be annoying!).

Be thankful.
Gratitude is one thing that guarantees another day favor. Building bridges with other bloggers is a very important thing to do. Help people; if people help you, thank them; contact other bloggers privately just to say hi (not only for blogging reasons); link to the people who have helped you. Don't expect to be best friends with everyone - but do be thankful for the friends you have.

What do you think? What else would make a blogger someone you'd want to follow? What do you find off-putting?

Quick Notice To Bloggers (Becareful of The FTC)

Hi There! Welcome to this blog.

Are you are blogger? I just wanted to alert many co-bloggers out there of the need to be at a watch out for FTC (Federal Trade Commission).

The FTC Might Start Watching You!

There is a big buzz in the blogosphere about a regulation that the FTC is planning to approve late this summer. If that goes through, they will basically start going after bloggers “for any false claims or failure to disclose any conflict of interest.” In other words, if you write a testimonial for a product you have never used, you might get busted. This part is the one that makes sense. The controversial one is the “failure to disclose any conflict of interest” one. This could involve bloggers who earned a freebie from a company and ended up writing about it (without disclosing the freebie), for example. Furthermore, it could also mean that you can’t use any affiliate links inside your blog or website without disclosing that you stand to earn money if someone clicks on them.

I believe that trying to enforce strict guidelines and clean the web from spammers and scammers is a good thing. However, I am not sure if this proposed approach is the right one. It kind reminds me of the RIAA, and how they were trying to stop illegal music downloads by suing the heck out of a women who had shared a couple of songs via P2P…. Aaron Wall wrote a really good post about this topic, titled FTC Going After Bloggers = Epic Fail. Here is a quote from it:

"What is absurd (to me at least) is how inefficient this process is. What needs to happen is better enforcement on ad networks, search engines, and merchants. Follow the money downstream rather than hunting for nickels upstream"

The people who are making fake sites are doing so because they are paid to. And amoral ad networks that syndicate ads based on *maximizing yield efficiency* (like Google AdWords) are designed to syndicate fraud because it is easy for advertisers to pay a lot for ads when their profit margins are nearly 100% because they scam people.

I completely agree with him. Going after individual bloggers will not solve the problem. It will just make the money shift hands, but the system will remain intact. Either way it is important to keep an eye on the development of this issue, because it might affect all of us.

how can you promote your blog online?

Hi there! Welcome. Today lets discuss on how to promote your blog.

So - how can you promote your blog online?

1. Advertising.
I read a reports some where it was said that the world of advertising is in big trouble due to the recession. I personally believe it depends on the options that are available. More than ever before, anyone who wants to advertise will want value for money. But I'd argue this should always be the case.

One marketer i met introduced me to one great blog adds site and i want to strongly recommend adding your blog to CMF Ads - Low cost, no-nonsense advertising This adverstising site has a great service. 30 day ads start at just 1 credit ($0.25), or you can spend hundreds of credits depending on your budget. You can pick and choose the ads you want to place, advertise across a range of sites based on their price and CPM, or combine both approaches.

2. Commenting.
There is an article i read on how to get more comments on your blog. You should also post comments on other blogs from time to time, as this helps to get some discussions going. People may visit your blog if you write an interesting comment. But don't spam the comment section of another blog. Remember that you're visiting someone else's site.

3. Signature links.
Including a blog link in your signature is a good way to get people clicking through with having to ask them to do so. You can add a link to your email signature or your signature on forums (see #10 for more). And that keeps you away from spam.

4. Guest posts.
Writing guest posts for other blogs can be a very rewarding experience. Back in February 2009 i read a post from one of my favorite marketer. He wrote this guest post for ProBlogger.net, listing 7 reasons not to have empty ad spots on your blog. Darren Rowse (ProBlogger owner) wrote a follow-up post to give a few tips for what you can do with your empty ad spots. I am sure the writer couldn't have asked for a better way to promote his post!

5. Contests.
Occasionally, running a contest can be a good way to create some increase or buzz, get some new readers and boost your subscribers. If you require people to subscribe to your blog by email, this is a good way to keep track of who's entered the contest (assuming you use FeedBurner).
But you shouldn't view this as an easy way to get new subscribers. Once you've got a few people to subscribe, ensure you keep writing great content or they will unsubscribe. There may be people who sign up just for the contest and who unsubscribe when it ends, but if you can give people a reason to stay subscribed, everyone wins!

6. Exchanging links.
I'm not alway that interested on straight forward link exchanges, i.e. "you link to me and I'll link to you". There are better ways to get links from other blogs. Follow some of these tips and you'll be well on your way.

7. Twitter.
This is a great way to promote your blog, but you need to do more than just post links to your latest posts. Engage people in discussions and you may find they start to answer back!
If you need a beginner's guide, get some here: tips for getting starting with Twitter. There is more on ways to climb to new heights with Twitter, along with 10 signs your Twitter etiquette could be improved. and then follow me on twitter.

8. Blog directories.
These provide another way to get your blog listed. People looking for blogs can browse by category and find the blogs that interest them. I recommend Bloggeries Blog Directory, you'll get good referrals from this well-optimised site.

9. Blogging networks.
Belonging to a blog network, I think it's worth including this as a tip. BlogCatalog is by far the best blogging network out there.

10. Forums.
If you haven't joined the CMF Ads - forum for discussion , you're missing out! You should also check out Bloggeries Blog Forum. Contrary to what some might say, forums aren't dead yet. In forums you interract with each other and as much as you do your blog also interract also and sooner than you know it starts getting recognize by member of the forum.

Operating, and the advantages of a Blog

Hi there! Weklcome to my blog. Just incase you are coming for the first time, i am talking about blog and blogging tips. So check on the "ARCHIVE" to find the first post about what blog is?

Today lets talk more on blogging.

If you are a bit observative, you will see that Blogs are everywhere these days. Its difficult to surf the Internet this days without seeing the word Blog or a blog page somewhere. Blog is now beeing used more often to help promote business and gain valuable information quicker while surfing the Internet.

The word Blog is short for web log as explained in my first post. Basically a Blog is just an area set aside for you to write articles about your products and services or just about you or anything that can easily be accessed with a special program called a RSS reader. In case you're wondering RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication.

When you set up a Blog you select a template that will house your information. Once you have the Blog set up you can post whatever information you like. It's really a fast way to get your articles and information up on the web and the templates look great!

You don't have to mess with all the technical end of getting something up on a web page (HMTL layout, FTP, ect...). The real cool thing about Blogs is that you can get the software to read them for free. Also, you can set up an account and create your own Blog for free!

One thing I should note is, you can read Blogs with your standard browser and post comments on the content of the Blog. An optional way to read Blogs is by using a RSS reader program. You simply subscribe to whichever Blogs that you want to and they are available immediately in the reader.

To get started with your very own free Blog, which you can post to go to: http://www.blogger.com/start
Just follow the sign up. I think you will find that they are very easy to set up and post to.

The are many advantages that Blogs offer over a web site or ezine.
1. You don't have to mess with an HTML layout. You just post your info and the info looks wonderful because the Blog uses the template that you set up.
2. You can post as often as you like. I can't imagine that I would send an email to my ezine every day but with a Blog you can post as much as you would like.
3. Email spam filters do not block Blogs because they are not an email communication.
4. You can make as many Blogs as you like on any subject or topics.
5. You can decide to look as proffessional as you want and do your business without worrying about a website.

I hope this will help you start your own Blog and officially start you down the road to being a Blogger. It pays too!

Lets get started with blog and learn some blogging tips.

What is Blog?
A blog is a contraction of the term "weblog" It is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order.

"Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. (a shared on-line journal where people can post diary entries about their personal experiences and hobbies) "postings on a blog are usually in chronological order"

More About Blog:
Many blogs provide commentary or news on a focused subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic.
The ability for readers to drop comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (photoblog), photographs (photoblog), sketches (sketchblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), and audio (podcasting).

Micro-blogging is another type of blogging, featuring very short posts.

How Popular is Blogging?
As of December 2007, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs.

Let me also include here that with blog you can influence the society, just like any other publisher on the newspapers and televission.

Blogging Tips
Ok! Now do you want to go into blogging and see the magic of blogging.

To immediately get started. Here are some tips that has helped me with my blog writing. Read and use it too.

This will be the content then i explain:

Make your opinion known
Link like crazy
Write less
250 Words is enough
Make Headlines snappy
Write with passion
Include Bullet point lists
Edit your post
Make your posts easy to scan
Be consistent with your style
Litter the post with keywords.

1. Make your opinion known
People like blogs, they like blogs because they are written by people and not corporations. People want to know what other people think, crazy as it sounds they want to know what you think. Tell them exactly what you think using the least amount of words possible.

2. Link like crazy.
Support your post with links to other web pages that are contextual to your post.

3. Write Less
Give the maximum amount of information with the least amount of words. Time is finite and people are infinitely busy. Blast your knowledge into the reader at the speed of sound.

4. 250 is enough
A long post is easier to forget and harder to get into. A short post is the opposite.

5. Make Headlines snappy
Contain your whole argument in your headline. Check out National newspapers to see how they do it.

6. Include bullet point lists
We all love lists, it structures the info in an easily digestible format.

7. Make your posts easy to scan
Every few paragraphs insert a sub heading. Make sentences and headlines short and to the point.

8. Be consistent with your style
People like to know what to expect, once you have settled on a style for your audience stick to it.

9. Litter the post with Keywords.
Think about what keywords people would use to search for your post and include them in the body text and headers. make sure the keyword placement is natural and does not seem out of place.

10. Edit your post
Good writing is in the editing. Before you hit the submit button, re-read your post and cut out the stuff that you don’t need.

Lastly for now, Put Some Interesting Contents On Your Blog Often
Always put not only what interest you but what will interest your readers too. Add content like video to keep your blog interesting for your readers to stay longer on your blog and want to come back. that way your readers will fetch you money "Magically if you ask me how" Well, that's when you Monetize your blog.

I hope you enjoyed my tips about blog and writing a blog post - feel free to share your own knowledge about blogging and tips for writing. Drop a comment of either sugestion, question or just make your remark!
